Estonia, for me, the best experience of the 3 Baltic states. Why? It is sparsely populated and I really enjoyed the landscapes I saw. Another time I would have stayed longer but not 6 weeks as a fellow bikepacker family did. Maybe I come back and do the east together with St. Petersburg…once the dust settles.

The Latvian drivers tangibly drove a bit more conscious of bike riders. Not that it was great riding along busy roads but at least not with the same feelings as in Lithuania.

Where did I leave the last time? Ah, right, at the scene of battle. As I said, just beyond the border in Lithuania, I was viciously attacked. The enemy engaged in overwhelming numbers and my only option was retreat. So, I ran, or in this case pedaled like hell. But still, I was bearing the scars of the fight. Numerous mosquito bites are proof of my valor in battle. As any veteran I will wear them with pride, although, they really hurt.
Maybe you think it’s funny, but not only mosquitos are plenty here, also gadflies. And they all want my blood! 😱

Here we go again. I do find starting a new journey more difficult than in my youth. Maybe it’s really the age or it’s the fact that I have done so many already that the excitement is less. But, stubborn as I am, I left for Warsaw.

Kep, lovely Kep. More or less. But at least, I was close to the ocean again. It’s famous for the crab market. While I found the market quiet I nevertheless had the best meal there. You can choose what you want and it’s prepared right there. The crab and king prawns were super delicious. And 1 kg sounds about the right quantity 😉
