Hey there, I’m so glad you made it!
This blog started as a way to keep my friends and family updated on my travels and how I’m doing—mostly to save myself from repeating the same stories over and over! 🙂 Over time, it has evolved into a personal diary, a space where I can reflect and revisit cherished memories. Since I write about personal experiences on a deeper level, I’ve password-protected the blog. This way, I can share more openly without letting insecurity get in the way. Please don’t share the password without my permission. If you can’t access the blog in the future, just let me know and I’ll update you with the new one (I change it from time to time).
I’ve written the blog in English since it’s the common language for most of my friends. For those who aren’t fluent, there’s a translation option on the blog, and most browsers offer it these days as well. 🙂
So, why “Bienie”? Well, it’s a childhood nickname that stuck with me. In Bavaria, it used to be quite common for houses to have names. My parents’ house was called “Binner,” which is also my mom’s maiden name. My nickname, “Bienie,” is a playful variation of that. People have spelled it differently—“Bini,” “Bieni,” or even “Binni”—but I like it written as “Bienie” (obviously!). The translation would be something close to “bee.”
As for my travels, I’m still chasing the dream of a longer world trip. A few external factors have held me back, but deep down, I know it’s mostly me. Maybe I’m waiting for the right travel companion or the courage to venture out solo. Until then, I’ll keep exploring, as travel is an essential part of who I am. It’s not just about seeing new places—travel lets me explore my inner world by putting me in new situations. That’s one of its greatest gifts. Along the way, I meet amazing people, experience new cultures, and witness incredible landscapes. And sometimes, the most beautiful landscapes are within ourselves.
I’m deeply grateful for the support of my friends and loved ones, the lessons I’ve learned from past experiences, and the happiness I’ve found. I’m also learning to accept my flaws, emotions, and insecurities—they’re all part of who I am and deserve love and understanding. Life, after all, is like a song: it’s not just about the final note, but about savoring the entire masterpiece.
I’ll post updates whenever I can (and whenever I have a solid internet connection). If you want to stay in the loop, be sure to subscribe to the email newsletter! (please! 🙂 )
Love,
Matthias
PS: Why do I sign every post with “Love, Matthias”? Because love is all there is. The rest is secondary.
