Day 1 – From Lintach to Alkofen

I’ve started into a microadventure!

The last couple of weeks I had quite some ups and even deeper downs. Everything could trigger anger, frustration, demotivation and slight depression. Of course, I could look unto the outside and be frustrated about the continuous lockdown and my inability to move, the weather being rainy and cold added to the anger. Not having fulfilled my dream of that freaking fucking world trip got me to questioning myself. I do have all the possibilities and still cannot make things happen. Plus, things with my website/business are not moving forward. It seems like nothing tangible is going on in my life. So, basically monkey mind playing its game in my head.

And it was time to get out of here. I know…I cannot leave my head behind 😉 But, I can fill it with new adventures and stop that negative self-talk for some time.

My idea is to ride with the bike along the five rivers bike route clock-wise, then from Nürnberg take a detour to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and do another tour along the river Tauber. I will include a map with the tour I am taking but the complete map will only be visible at the end. So bear with me.

This morning, I started directly from my home and went along the first river Vils south towards Regensburg. And it’s always the first kilometers of a new adventure that is so awesome. I just can smile to myself and I am happy that I took this adventure.

Kallmünz is a beautiful little town and it is also the place where the Vils flows into the river Naab.

And once I was close to Regensburg the Naab finally flows into the Donau (Danube).

Going upstream it lead me to tonight’s resting place. I had a filling meal but only after I had to relight the stove 5 times. And just before a rain shower hit me I barely managed to build up the tent. This is actually the first time I use this one-man tent.

92 km is not bad for the first day. Let’s see how the next days will go. I’ll try to make shorter posts 😉

Summary of today: I did everything right and found happiness along the way 😀

Love,
Matthias
